What is there to say about this crazy duo. Their music is always dance friendly but does run the gambit. From deep house beats, to world music drums, dirty base sex jams, & family gathering favorites. They have been pumping their hot beats for over a decade & they keep coming back for more. If the music isn’t good enough for you or doesn’t ring any bells. Then their wacky music videos will surely remind you that they have been in our culture for some time now. We will update with more videos on the main page through the month. Check out some of their quirkiest ones below. Also go to their myspace page to hear music from their new album “Scars”!

JUNE 2009 DJ Of The Month

Tim Corrimal

We came across Tim’s show over 4 months ago & knew right away we would be

featuring him in our June Pride special! He is out, he is proud & he is letting the music play, check out

our interview with him below.

Check out his website here!!

CMB: When did you first become a d.j.?

Tim: I’m not really a D. J.  In July of 2006, I started producing a Podcast  called Go Rainbow Radio (http://www.gorainbowradio.com/) where I interview music artists from the gay and gay friendly communities. In December 2006, I picked up sponsorship by CAPP Records in San Francisco and in March of this year, T-Best Talent Agency signed on as a sponsor as well.  It’s a labor of love that I produce on evenings and weekends since I work a regular weekday job that has nothing to do with the music industry.

CMB: You play lots of dance music on your show, is that the only music you enjoy? If not what other music gets to you?

Tim: When I first started the show, I didn’t actually intend for Go Rainbow Radio to
become strictly a dance music show or even just a music show.  I wanted it to be an interview format show where I could provide up and coming musicians, actors, authors and other artist a venue to tell their story and promote their work.  But the first few
artists I interviewed were from the dance music community and they referred me to other artists they knew and as a result, dance music artists has been the majority of the guests
on the show.  Once the show started gaining notoriety, I have been able to interview artists with musical styles such as Ariel Aparicio, Phil Putnam, Lori Michaels, Josh Zuckerman, Freddy Freeman, Don Harvey and many more.

CMB: What age were you when you first came out?

Tim: “I was 23 and I remember it so well.  It was about 2 years before the March on Washington in 1993.  I grew up in a conservative Baptist family and so it took me a while to get past the intolerance and misinformation I had grown up with and accept myself for who I am.  I have been out and proud for 18 years and my family has realized that love is what’s important and accept both myself and my partner of 13 years.”

CMB: Do you find that having a gay friendly show has opened many doors?

Tim: “Absolutely.  The first few artists I interviewed were from the gay community and they opened doors by introducing me to many people in the music industry.  Without
those doors, I probably wouldn’t have the sponsorships agreements with CAPP Records or T-Best Talent Agency.  In addition, I probably would have never been able to interview
famous artists such as Inaya Day, Amber, Cory and Jennifer from Pleasure Center, Katrina Leskanich from Katrina and the Waves, Ru Paul, Ari Gold and many more.  In fact, I think
one of my funniest interviews was with Candy J aka Sweet Pussy Pauline.  And I have to
give a special shout out to Mike Andrews from the band Hypo and Accord.  He was the first musician I interviewed and he introduced me to many other artists.”

CMB: When you hear the phrase “Gay Pride” what does that mean to you?

Tim: “To me, it means celebrating who I am to my very core.  But it also means working with the communities we live in to help others understand that the sexual orientation is irrelevant to the equal protections that should be afforded to every citizen in the United States where I live and also around the world.”

CMB: Who are some of the celebrities you have met so far?

Tim: “Well, I meet all of them when I record the interviews, however, that’s usually a phone interview.  But I have met a number of artists in person such as Rikah, DJ Brian Howe from XM Radio, Mimi and Teft, Kristi Kay, Raquela, Telling On Trixie, Pleasure Center, Leo Frappier, Liquid 360, Jason Antone, The Perry Twins, Ohsha Kai, Rachel Panay, Fredrick Ford, Delphinium Blue, Mike Andrews, Paul Brewer, as well as Cary August and the whole CAPP Records team.”

CMB: What are your plans or Goals for the rest of 2009?

Tim: “Over the past 3 years I have produced over 150 episodes of Go Rainbow Radio which are available at http://www.gorainbowradio.com as well as in iTunes.  I hope to continue giving music artists a venue to tell their story and share their music with listeners around the world.”

CMB: Sorry for the delay on DJ Kris Cut , we had to do some deep detective work on

this one. She was sent to us by a third party & we really weren’t sure why at first but after checking

out her myspace we became sudo-fans. Although her myspace is jam packed with a thriving list of

friends there is very little online about her. But we don’t submit to the new adage no digital foot prints

no life. Actual we believe the opposites most people that have nothing online probably live very full lives &

unlike the sneaky ones out there that add all there friends or paid for programs. Some people just do

gigs pass out fliers & make a name for themselves in the real world aka “DJ Kris Cut”.  She mixes hip

hop which is a change for this category once again & her motto is ” dj’ing isn’t about how you look

but how you sound” , & we think you sound freaking hot!

DJ V A L K Y R I E

CMB: how long have you been a dj?

DJV: “2 years”

CMB: what were you doing before you became a dj?

DJV: “Before I was a dj I was fan of the music. I found many bands on myspace that were amazing and I wanted to help  them get known. So when I got asked to DJ I thought what a great way to expose the bands to the world.”

CMB: Do you feel that web radio is the wave of the future?

DJV: “Most definately with web radio,  you don’t have bow down to mainstream radio rules and regulations, and you have the opportunity to play bands that otherwise would never be heard. Web Radio can be heard all over the world you not limited to one aera. I have interviews with BANDS on my show, and when asked what they feel about internet radio, they always say how much it helps get the  word out on thier music.”

CMB: what type of music does your show play?

DJV: “When I started my show Beyond The Blaze I did not want to limit my self to one genre of metal. On my show you will find a vast variety of metal. My goal is to play the best of the best in all fields of metal.”

CMB: how did you get into this field?

DJV: “Almost 3 years ago I started myspace I found a lot of bands when I heard them that made me go wow I love this music. As I found more and more I dicovered internet radio started listening to it and going in the chat rooms to talk about the music. After a while one DJ asked me if I might be interested in becoming a DJ. I saw this as a great opportunity to help bands that I had made friends with. So I agreed and after 2 years I have helped many bands with my show. I see my show as support for the bands it has and always will be about support of the bands.”

CMB: For the up & coming radio host out there, what advice would you give them?

DJV: “First have fun enjoy what you are doing. To be a good dj takes time , dedication and giving it 100%.”

CMB: It’s the start of a whole new year, what are your plans for this year as a dj?

DJV: “My plans this year are to continue being the best dj I can. I want to make the metal scene grow even more by showing the listener the best bands out there. This year I will have many more interviews so tune in see who I will play and talk too……..”

DJ MISJAH

Photobucket

We selected Dj Misjah for three reasons ,

1. He has one of the most eclectic collection of music a dj can display on a myspace page, with sounds ranging from trampy beat bangers to etheral smoke & lights strings.

2. In the month of January he will be ding anywhere from 13-15 shows from Paris to Newyork & he just gets busier as the year goes on.

3. His Bio below, Read, enjoy & your dj of the months music below…..

It all began in 1991 with releases under one of his alias’s “Dyewitness”. “Observing the earth”, “What would you like to hear”, “The Future” and “The Masterplan” already put his name on the map of dance floor hits forever. They are still considered all time classics.

After these releases, Midtown Records asked Misjah to start his own label for them; X-Trax was born on December 1994. He started producing tracks with the help of some friends: DJ Tim and Jeroen (Groovehead) Artists such as Ferry Corsten, Umek, and Piet Bervoets (Rank1) also had releases on X-Trax Classics from this label include: Trippin’ Out, The Club, Special Acid Edition, and of course “Access” which made it to the English charts in 1995. Photobucket

Due to the huge success of X-Trax he was sought after by such artists like: Josh Wink, Jam and Spoon, Reflect, Format One, Finitribe, Denki Groove, etc to produce remixes for them.

Misjah has also produced under various artist/project names in different styles of dance music. In 1999 he started another project under the name “AMbassador”. It was under this name that he remixed “Blaze – My Beat”. His remix became a huge club hit and was used in the video clip. It also made it to the English charts.

In December 1999 he stopped doing the A&R for X-Trax. In 2001 he started a new label called ReRun and ReRun Booking’s DJ Agency. The agency is responsible for booking some major players in the techno scene such as Hardcell, Trevor Rockcliffe, etc.

He has released on numerous labels including: Craft Music, Automat, Wetmusik, Pocket, Zync, Mankind, Jericho, etc. Just to name a few. His tracks are being played by many high profile djs as: Adam Beyer, Sven Vath, Carl Cox , Judge Jules, etc.

Since his dj career took off in 1994, he has been traveling around the globe continuously to all continents. Playing at famous clubs and festivals including: Dance Valley, Roskilde, Mayday, Nature One, etc

As a DJ, Misjah has his own funky style. His sets contain bits and pieces of almost all styles of dance music from house to techno and from minimal to electro and everything in between.

In 2008 he started his monthly podcast “Misjah In The Mix” which is rapidly getting huge amount of radio play and downloads. He also recently switched from vinyl and cds to djing with Traktor DJ (vinyl and cd controlled of course).

*TEISTO*
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We have hand selected him for this months top Dj & here is a write up on him done on myspace! We really think you should check him out!

Born Tijs Verwest in Holland (Noord-Brabant, Netherlands) on January 17, 1969. Tiesto’s goal from the start was ‘to share his music with others’. By first gaining experience with his residency in Dutch club The Spock all while perfecting his producing skills in the studio at the start of 1995, he was always searching for the next best set to play. By 1997 it all came true when he and close friend Arny Bink founded the now legendary Black Hole Recordings. Spawning numerous hits such as the trance music classics ‘Suburban Train’, ‘Flight 643′ and ‘Lethal Industry’, DJ Tiesto’s debut album ‘In My Memory’ became one of Holland’s best selling dance albums in 2002 while also being voted DJ Magazine’s World No. 1 DJ beating of former holder John Digweed in the same year. This was not yet his peak though. In 2003 Tiesto envisioned performing a set, but not in just a club venue – a stadium. For the first time in music history Tiesto became the first DJ to host a concert in a sell-out event in a 25,000 capacity stadium going on to what became the ‘Tiesto In Concert’ Tour around the world. In doing this, Tiesto broke the boundaries of the superstar DJ and set new records while at the same time being crowned world number one again by the readers of DJ Magazine. Jump forward just one year. As well as the successful mix compilation series ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ (Vols 1-4) and Magik Musik (1-7) Tiesto became the first DJ ever to host the Olympic Opening Ceremony for the Athens 2004 Olympics, setting another record for biggest audience ever played to by a DJ – 3.8 billion. As well as performing his set, Tiesto also produced an album exclusively for the event – Parade of The Athletes, with all new material as well as his next studio effort ‘Just Be’ spawning the hit ‘Traffic’, the first non-vocal track to make the number one spot in the Dutch national charts for 23 years. Having won pretty much every dance music award there is, Tiesto’s aim is, as he says just to keep on improving and produce more albums. With another mix compilation and solo effort due for 2006, even if he was to retire tomorrow, Tiesto would be looked upon as one of the greatest DJ’s to go behind a set of turntables.
