CMB: Hello Daddy Bawsten. May I call you Daddy? That’s an interesting name. How did you come by that name?Bawsten: Well Daddy was a name given to me by the ladies…lol The Bawsten part came from wearing my Celtics jersey down at the courts. Cats just started calling me Boston so it stuck.
CMB: So we noticed in your new video “Miss Saditty” You have a partner in “preverbal crime” named Demic. How long have you two know each other?Bawsten: I’ve known Demic for about 8 years.Random Fact: Demic once said he would NEVER work with me Now we’re a group..lmao!
CMB: Are you like the next Puffy & Mase?
Bawsten: Puffy and Mase? Nah I wouldn’t say that but it’s a flattering comparison. We’re more like Big Boy and Andre 3000 (Outkast) if anything. But Diddy is one of my idols.
CMB: Where are you originally from?
Bawsten: I’m originally from Newark, NJ but I’ve been all ova NJ. Elizabeth, Plainfield, New Brunswick, Piscataway, Scotch Plains, and thee list goes on..lol
CMB: So now that the new Video is out , when can we expect an album?
Bawsten: The Album is going to bring back a positive vibe to hip-hop. When you listen to the album be prepared to think a little bit. We touch on serious topics and try to draw emotion from the listener. This is not “shoot em up bang bang!” music. This is something you could listen to in the car with your mom..with the exception of a few tracks. It’s definitely geared toward a more feminine crowd.
CMB: As an artist who do you look up to in your field?
Bawsten: I don’t look up to too many people in my industry because I feel given the same opportunity as a major act I would “blow them out of the water”. So to be honest I would have to say I look up to my partner Demic. He’s taught me a lot about this record industry.
CMB: Who are some famous artist you would love to collaborate with in the future?
Bawsten: I would love to collab with Lady GaGa, she’s my number one choice! After that, I’d like to do a song with Drake or Kanye West! I choose Drake because I feel like when it comes to girls, my verse would rival his and I’d love to have the opportunity to prove this.
CMB: So a little birdie told us that not only are you a rapper but you also produce. What do you like more being the performer or being behind the scenes?
Bawsten: Actually, I don’t produce any more. Who told you that!? I do have quite a sick collection of beats that I’m sitting on tho. You can hear a few @http://myspace.com/bawsteninc. I prefer being an artist over producer. Being in front of that crowd on stage gives me such a rush! I love it! I effin love it!
CMB: We also hear that you have a website & have featured our site leader “Chayse” on it a many times! How did you come about owning this site & what is it all about?
Bawsten: I was always the guy that heard about all the celebrity rumors last! All the trending topics I knew of came from my friends and by the time I found out, I was late as hell! That combined with the fact that I was desperately in need of creating a website that could draw revenue I created DEFGLAM.COM! DefGlam.com is my baby, my pride and joy. She displays world news, celebrity gossip, video, music, kicks and album chart facts on a daily basis. I am now the 1st person to know everything before my friends..lol. I love featuring Chayse on my site because I have been a fan of hers for a few years now and she is sooooo sexy! I can’t wait to do a song with her and debut it on defglam.com!
CMB: So Daddy tell us what are your goals for the rest of 2009?
Bawsten: For 2009 I would just like to finish out the tour I’m on with my partner Demic and build the defglam brand to the point where its a household name. These are my major focuses for 2009. Everything else comes 2nd! I wouldn’t mind extending my photography portfolio either. crookedconcepts.blogspot.com. Oh yea, I’m a photograher too..lol
