Video Star Of The Month (2010)
August 2010 Video Star of the Month: Pandora Boxx
We know what you are thinking….. “ANOTHER DRAG QUEEN!”
yes darling another one. Why? Because they are taking the web by storm & they are simply more creative & funny. The thought of putting some hack job , teen dweeb of the moment on here is painful. Suddenly some kid with a flip cam is famous because he is will to jump off a roof. Or does silly skits in his bathroom. We can’t be bothered to watch 14 – 18 year old toilet humor. We’d much rather watch a 30 something (or as Pandora says 21-o) dressed up like a crazy person , doing strange skits in their basement. Yes at least we don’t feel like pedophiles that way.
Pandora can be seen all summer on “RuPauls Drag U” as one of the Drag professors set out to help ugly , fashion starved women , get their groove back. But its online that “The Gay Show” really goes down. Our favorite quote has to be, “Hi, I’m Pandora Boxx I am 21-o . I moved on to letters after 21 so you do the math!” Love it! You may think after looking at all our features that most of the people on Youtube are drag queens & Transexuals. That just isn’t true. Sure there is a booming gay culture (not always a positive one) online. But there are also real thinkers out there. Even some that are out there just to get you to think!

June Pride Video Star of the Month: Mila Jam
CMB: So Mila Jam? Is that your real name? If not. How did you come up with that?
MIla: MILA JAM is a derivative of my name, Jahmila. I wanted to have an artist name for my recording projects that was different and unique. It’s very simple to say and recognizable. I also have friends that call me JAM..so the 2 together create a cool name that noone else has. Ive heard of Mila’s and maybe a Jam..but no MILA JAM’s!
CMB: I noticed on your Youtube channel you are known as Britney Houston. Are those two of your Idols?
Mila: Yes. I am inspired by Britney Spears and Whitney Houston, amongst many other artists. The 2 of them represent my dancing and singing ability. It is also a clever name.
CMB: Where are you currently located?
Mila: NYC Baby!! Harlem Town USA!
CMB: Your youtube videos consist of mostly live stage shows. (which btw we love.) Where do you normally perform live?
Mila: As, Britney Houston, I host my own one woman shows around NYC at various lounges and clubs. Currently I have a show called “Sensations” at Therapy Bar in Hell’s Kitchen every Monday night @ 11pm. I perform covers and intertwine my favorite Youtube clips with them. My other show is at Barracuda Lounge in Chelsea every Wednesday night @ Midnight. The show is titled “Poptarts” and I take on a different popstar each week.
On a side note, my youtube channel used to be a collection of my very popular viral parodies. It got taken down due to copyright issues, but garnered more than 6 million views. Faves are “Lipgloss”, “Umbrella” and “When I Grow Up” remakes.
CMB: Now as you know it is Pride month so certain artist were chosen specifically for this month. If you could categorize yourself in the world what category would you be in? ( we don’t believe in boxing people up. But this is a better way for people to relate to you as a person).
Mila: I am a heterosexual Transgender woman who loves sweet Tea!.
CMB: Almost a month ago we wrote a post about a horrifically homophobic & offensive episode of “Family Guy” , that was clearly transexual bashing. You were one of the many people that wrote in as a response to the post. Can you expand on that for our readers?
Mila: As a Transgender woman, i was touched by your support for the Trans community after reading your response to the Family Guy Episode. It could have been very easily dismissed and you made it a point to protest its Transphobic view. I believe that Transexuality is the last frontier of gender issues and anyone willing to recognize the struggles of those who are different, is a friend in my book. We have to love and support each other to move forward.
CMB: Recently many artist in the gay & minority communities have been sitting back with no control as they’re wildly successful videos are being removed by corporations claiming they violate copy right laws. One such video is , “The Bad Romance” Parody by Sherry Vine. Which had over 4 million views & now is gone. How does this make you feel?
Mila: I experienced it first hand. I had a video that had over 2 1/2 million views and a few more that reached over a million. its devastating to the artist, because we work so hard to bring our creative expression to the viewers. I felt powerless and a bit lost after it happen to me..but I had other plans from the beginning. I’m only getting started, and youtube is not gonna stop me!
CMB: What are your plans for 2010?
Mila: 2010 is all about cultivating the music and brand of MILAJAM. I have been making a name as Britney Houston and want to share more of the girl behind the parody artist. I’ve been in the recording studio consistently writing and recording original dance pop material. I am planning to release an EP of this work before the end of the year, but u can’t control perfection and time!

May 2010 Video Star of the Month
AlphaCat
You may only Know him as the “Obama guy” or the guy who plays obama doing the “Single ladies “ Dance. But Alphacat is way more than that. He is clearly a well rounded young man that struck while Iron was hot ( the iron being the original Version of Youtube). Now he is one of the lucky few that has a steady following of the now seemingly Corporate world of Youtube. Alphcat began doing blogs, original comedic characters, & parodies before “Oh this is so going on youtube,” became a phrase. He is trying to stretch his legs outside of the world of the web but until then her keeps pumping out new videos. Some very extravagant like , his Thrill parody (were he also played Obama). Then some are more simple like him blogging about one time when he was at the supermarket. He has even done some tv work for Entertainment tonight as Obama. But if it isn’t broke don’t fix it! March 2010 Video Star of the Month
Johnnyboyxo

It Seems Youtube has taken a turn for the Drags. Or The Trans? There has been a huge boom in gay, drag & Tranny superstars on the web. Everyone from last years features like Greg Scarnici to B.Scott now a tv fixture, this seems to be getting bigger. Johnnyboy is one straight from left field. He isn’t selling comedy with a smile from goo goo gay land. He/ She is giving you a nasty/ X-rated attitude in every way. Even though currently he has no surgeries his claim to fame is being the most out rageous “tranny” on youtube. You ave to wonder who her fans really are. After all, gays & girls can’t be the only ones giving her 100′s of thousands of views. Her new album apptly titled “Trannylicious” has hundreds of reviews & comments on it on I-tunes. Proving even with all the low budget qualities of her videos. Her brand is bankable. But still no one knows what the magic potion is to go from youtube celebrity to tv star. Sure Bscott does tv spots but he has yet to truly break out of the internets grasp. Others like What the Buck & Hot For Words , though they are huge online have yet to see national televised glory. Will the sales of Trannylious take Johnnyboyxo to the next level? You be the judge. Check out the lead track below & we will have more ranchy videos & info on Johnny coming next week!
